Welcome

In December of 2009, it was announced during the online ABWE Global Family Meeting that I had accepted their invitation to join the administrative team of the mission as Vice President of Church Relations and Member Care. In this position I oversee two areas of ministry for ABWE. My responsibilities focus on serving  our missionaries by the continuing development of resources that will strengthen them during these days of challenge, change and crisis and helping churches effectively fulfill the Great Commission.

I continue to have a passion “to help people understand the Word of God and see how it affects the way they live.” It will be exciting to see how God will use that passion to challenge His people to greater involvement in missions. In addition my prayer is that God will open the door to opportunities for speaking in churches, at schools, Bible conferences and retreats.

Please bookmark my website. It is new so the content is rather limited right now but that will change.  Ultimately it will have things that will benefit a church seeking to strengthen its missions program. It will also include postings of interest especially to pastors and a fresh list of resources that will challenge the heart. Its scope is not limited so check back often.    My email address is tony@abwe.org. And you can find me on Facebook and Twitter (@tonyandjoanb). I don't do meaningless tweats so it is "safe" to follow me on Twitter.

Your prayers are appreciated as Joan and I prepare to relocate to the Harrisburg area. We will be looking for a place to live and a new local church home.

Brief Bio

My ministry experience includes serving churches in Iowa, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Michigan as well as speaking at Bible conferences and working with mission agencies, camps and church leadership councils. For several years I was the Associate Bible Teacher for the international media ministry, Back to the Bible, of Lincoln, Nebraska and also have served as Chaplain for the Scranton/Wilkes Barre Red Barons, the AAA affiliate of the Philadelphia Phillies. I am the author of Real Life, Real Worship and God is Good and have co-authored three Bible study guides with Dr. Gene Getz and a daily devotional entitled, FaithWalk. I received an M.Div. from Biblical Theological Seminary of Hatfield, Pennsylvania and a D.Min. from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School of Deerfield, Illinois. It was my privilege to serve on the Executive Board of the Association of Baptists for World Evangelism for nearly 19 years and I have taught as adjunct faculty for Shepherds Theological Seminary in Carey, NC and Michigan Theological Seminary in Plymouth, MI.

My wife, Joan, and I have three daughters, Katie, Rebekah who is married to Mark Cross, and Lauren who is married to Robert Butts. Mark & Rebekah live in Phoenix, AZ. They will soon have four children: Steven & Michelle who are very special part of our family, Mabelyn and "TBA." You can see family pictures in the photo album.
